Support the Church of the Atonement

The Church of the Atonement, a mission of the Episcopal Diocese of Long Island, has served the people of Quogue and surrounding communities each summer since the opening service on July 13, 1884. In his sermon at the Consecration of the Atonement, the Reverend Frederick B. Carter said “[A] church at a summer resort is visible proof of the connection of our refreshment and joy with our God and witnesses that ‘all our fresh springs are in Him.’ ”

This church is operated by an Executive Committee appointed annually by the Bishop of Long Island, the Right Reverend Lawrence C. Provenzano, who is its Chairman.

The Atonement receives no funds from the Diocese of Long Island. Its operation is made possible only by generous annual gifts from members of the congregation and other neighbors in the Village, the plate offerings at the Sunday services, and donors of the memorial flowers. We are grateful to all the good “Friends of the Atonement” whose gifts are a vital supplement to the income from our limited reserves.

We hope you will consider making a bequest to the Atonement in your will. Your generosity will support the church’s ministry to future generations in the Quogue community.
